Rexburg
Well, here I am at BYU-Idaho. My apartment is lovely. It feels pretty homey and there's bunches of space to put things. Except I wish the fridge was bigger. :) I will post pictures at some point. Our kitchen table is a bar with six stools, and that's probably my favorite part of the apartment. My roommates seem pretty great so far. My room-roommate's name is Kennedy and she has red hair and fabulous shoes, so that's a good start. The rest of the girls are so far friendly and I'm feeling pretty comfortable here. Also, they all have cars! :) Haha. I've been doing Get Connected, which is sort of Freshman initiation. They put us all into groups and we go to a bunch of things that are similar to firesides. It's cool because it's helped me meet people so I haven't been so lonely. And also I was less bored. Everyone is really friendly and nice, and things have been good. I've managed to keep myself fed, and even in a healthy fashion. I went and picked up my books yesterday, and fortunately for me they were not expensive! That being because I was only required to have two. :) So far I've been amazed by how much people actually are constantly talking about getting married! It's really insane! There wasn't too much in church, but in all the get connected stuff there have been constant jokes about finding your 'eternal companion' etc. It's rather amusing, but also slightly disturbing. My main impression about Rexburg in general is that it's absurdly windy! I knew that it was windy here, but I thought that maybe perhaps the wind would occasionally stop. No such luck. It's very freezing. I'm wishing I had brought a coat. I also will need an umbrella I believe. All in all though I'm feeling surprisingly settled. Church was a little weird, because (1) We went in reverse order (Relief Society, Sunday School, Sacrament Meeting) and (2) You're not ever actually in a chapel. Just things to get used to. Church is at 1:00, which is good for if I come home a weekend because then I don't have to leave until Sunday morning, but less good because I don't get a Sunday afternoon nap. :) Anyhow, this is the beginning of the blogging of a college girl! I have to go hide under my bed from this scary scary wind now! Signing off!

hahaha You keep on being disturbed by all that marriage talk. Pretty sure none of us want you to rush into that. :D It is kinda weird, right? The focus ought to be on making yourself a good eternal companion, and then the right companion will kind of just come to you. I'm so glad that things are feeling good so far. You're in the "honeymoon stage" so I would still recommend an apartment council at some point kinda soon-ish; before some kind of crisis occurs. :D Love you lots!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! Just keep blogging so we hear all the great stories! At least your first Sunday wasn't a fast Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHahaha. Yes indeed, I'm very grateful that my first Sunday wasn't fast Sunday! No need to realize how psycho people are too early! :) I just remembered your fast Sunday story.
ReplyDeleteMy freshman church was held in my Physics classroom. Kind of strange to have the sacrament table be the same place where the teacher mixed chemicals only a few days before!
ReplyDeletefrom the desert where it is also windy...
