Monday, April 22 we fly to London. We arrive Tuesday around 6:25 pm and have a pretty full day including a walking tour of London. This means we will walk PAST everything that we want to see. This will include Buckingham Palace, Parliament (this is the precise word on the itinerary...I assume House of Parliament?), and Big Ben. We will also go to the National Gallery this day. We have the option of attending a musical this night too. They suggest we don't because we will be so exhausted and may end up sleeping through it, but I'm going anyway. I will either being seeing Les Miserables or Wicked on this night.
The next day (24) we are going to the British Museum and have the afternoon free. I will be using at least part of this time to go to Buckingham Palace because my main project for one of my classes is to study the differences in architecture between various palaces throughout Europe. Any other suggestions to fill this time I am open to. This night we will also go to the theater and I will be seeing whichever of the above mentioned musicals I didn't see the previous night. The morning of the 25th we are taking the Chunnel to Brussels and spending the afternoon in Brugges. On the 26th we are going to St. Bavo in Gent and the Royal Museum in Brussels. I don't know anything about any of these places and I suspect there will be free time to some degree so if anyone has ideas for things I should see feel free to share them.
Saturday, the 27th we are going from Brussels to Amiens. Here I don't quite understand what the itinerary is saying but we are going to some Cathedral and then to Paris and the Louvre.
The 28th will be in Paris. We are going to a church (that's all it says on the itinerary so far), Orsay, something about a Boat Ride, and Notre Dame. I will be going to Versailles on this day also (again with the Palaces). We will still be in Paris on Monday the 29th and it looks like it's pretty much all free time for me to explore this day. Suggestions listed are Ste. Chapelle and the arc du Triomphe or Chartres...again, I know nothing about these places. Time for me to research.
30th we fly from Paris to Rome and arrive around 2:30. It says that this is the only day I will have for Borghese reservations, which will be another locations that I write about in my architecture paper.
May 1st we will visit some churches, the Pantheon, Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, St. Peter in Chains, Maria Maggiore, Spanish Steps, and Piazza Navona. On the second we will visit the Vatican and in the afternoon we travel to Ostia Beach? On the 3rd it says Ostia Antiqua to Orvieto to Florence walking tour, on which I will see the Gates of Paradise.
May 4th it says Uffizi (again, I don't know what this is...but I'm seeing it...or going there? something). The 5th we will go to church in Florence, see (?) Santa Croce and maybe climb the dome of the cathedral. The 6th we go from Florence to Padova, suggested I get a reservation at the Scrovegni Chapel. Then we will go to the Bologna Cathedral. The 7th we will be in Padova, and I have the option of spending part of the day in Venice. The next day we go from Padova to Salzburg (it says here we will drive through the alps and have an abbreviated Sound of Music tour) and see the Salzburg Cathedral. Here I don't understand the calendar again, but on the 9th it says Dachau, Munich, Neue Pinakothek. Then the 10th it says Munich Alte pinakothek. The morning of the 11th we travel from Munich to Rothenburg.
The 12th we see the Holy Blood Altar in Rothenburg, the 13th we travel from Rothenburg to Heidelburg and see the Heidelberg Castle, and on the 14th we fly home from Frankfurt! Whew! That was exhausting already!
For my giant research paper on European palaces/architecture I will be focusing on Buckingham Palace, Versailles, Borghese Gallery, Medici Palace, Doges Palace, and Residenz in Munich. For the other class I am taking I am supposed to choose 10 artworks to research and view specifically, one or two from specific stylistic periods (Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical, Romantic, Realism, Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, 20th century [i.e. Cubism, Surrealism]) and 5 architectural sites from five periods (Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical, 19th c. Revival ie Romanesque Revival, 20th c. Modern). If any of you feel like looking at where I will be and choosing things I should see based on this criteria would be a good educational activity for your children (or just fun for you!) then I would totally love to hear your suggestions! Love you all!

I'm in agony! Oh, how I wish you could take me with you! Wish I had some helpful suggestions, but I don't. I suggest on your second day when you have some free time, that you take a nap. :) If you're going to see a musical when the suggestion is not to (I'd do the same thing), you'll want to make up for it. Oh, this sounds so crazy lovely. Maybe I'll do some research and tell you what I'd want to do if I were me. :)
